Program Description: An internship at Clear Channel can provide you the chance to explore your career interests, acquire marketable job skills while “learning the ropes” of the industry, establish professional contacts, and gain practical work experience.
Clear Channel Dallas offers 6 different internships. Our internships offer meaningful educational and work experiences designed to meet the academic and career goals of the intern. Our management will teach and encourage, but it is up to the student to bring an enthusiasm to learn. Internships at Clear Channel are learning experiences; they are UNPAID.
Internships Offered:
Promotions - Main Duties: *Accompany Promotions Department at various events *Assist/shadow Promo staff with set-up and break down of promo equipment, For example: station tents, inflatable logos, stations signs, tables...etc... *The interns will assist/shadow the Promotions team with daily duties based on the type of event the station is promoting *Occasionally interns will assist and shadow the Promotions staff in the office and learn about the coordinating side of events. *While accompanying the Promo team whether it’s at the office or at events, the intern will always be under the supervision of a Promotions employee , but in the event of an emergency or in a case where an immediate errand needs to be ran for the station, the intern might be asked to drive a station vehicle – this situation is rare, but possible.
Marketing - As part of the Marketing/Promotions department, the intern will be provided with hands on marketing, brand promotion and digital branding experience on a daily basis. In addition, the intern will be involved in supporting benchmark station events, and assist in executing both on air and onsite activities as part of their weekly schedule. The intern will report directly to station assigned Promotions Director or Marketing Director
Nature of Marketing Internship:
- Write a promotional proposal including advertising elements
- Understand marketing tools available to station clientele
- Utilize media values to calculate earned media value for third parties
- Interact with media outlets to achieve press coverage
- Write a factual press release
- Create a client recap presentation
- Observe station promotion/sales meeting
- Write commercial copy
- Special event planning
- Interact with industry representatives through face to face meetings, phone interaction
- Organize promotional goods and merchandise
- Internet research for advertising/campaign concepts
- Schedule advertising campaigns
- Photograph station events for documenting
- Contribute creative ideas for promotion campaigns
- Public relations at various levels including internal communications
- Observation opportunities: in-studio and various departments (gaining insight and understanding on how departments function as a whole).
- Act as an active participant of the Marketing team
- 70% in office, 30% onsite events.
Programming - Interns will need to be present during some or all of the hours between 6AM-12PM at least 3 times a week. We are flexible and will work with students. Main Duties: Including, but not limited to assisting or shadowing the Programming staff with web research, audio recording, producing promos and other show content, photographing hosts and guest, web site updating, retrieving and walking guest to and from lobby.
Board Operating - Main Duties: *Interns will assist or shadow the Board Operating team with the reconciling of commercials between the computer and printed log, hour by hour, for up to 6 stations at once. Interns will also assist or shadow the Board Operating staff with maintaining accurate notation of transmitter readouts every 2 standard hours. Also, interns will assist or shadow in correctly notating and logging EAS alerts and, when appropriate, broadcasting said alerts. *Interns will assist or shadow the staff in giveaways, by maintaining the highest standard of phone etiquette while interacting with listeners during contest giveaways. Interns will get to experience how the staff handles listener relationships in regard to answering general questions, musical knowledge, and representing the highest standard of customer service. *Inters will gain knowledge about the symbiotic relationship of the main stations and their web streaming counterparts and will learn how to troubleshoot and avoid certain potential inaccuracies between them. * The interns will also assist or shadow the staff in communicating important information promptly and accurately regarding transmitter, programming, or commercial issues in times of emergency. *The interns will learn each station’s individual characteristics to correctly identify potential issues and correcting said issues before they become issues.
Web/Graphic Design - Interns will assist or shadow the Web team with creating graphics for web promotions and print, editing photos and updating day to day web content when needed.
Sales - Main Duties: Interns will assist or shadow in day to day sales activities i.e.
- processing paperwork, going on calls/appointments
- help to create proposals & presentations
- researching prospect leads/qualifying
- assisting with or shadowing at on-site events
- assisting or shadowing with administrative duties/working with Key account coordinators.
Eligibility: Applicants must be
• At least 18 years of age
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Able to provide a letter from the student’s school stating that the student will be granted course credit for the internship. No exceptions!

An internship at Clear Channel does not secure employment upon graduation.
Internships are offered year-round. The duration of the internship should reflect the length of the student’s semester - our fall program runs from August through December, the spring program runs from January through May, & our summer program runs from May through August. Applications will be accepted year-round for every semester & our interview process will start 1 -2 months prior to the start of the internship program. Number of hours worked and start date are determined by the student’s internship advisor/school but our positions generally require 15-30 hours per week. Schedule is flexible and is mutually agreed upon by the station supervisor and student. Clear Channel reserves the right to terminate a student’s internship at any point for reasons such as misconduct, poor attendance, insubordination or other serious problems.

Responsibility of Student: You must provide Clear Channel Dallas a Letter of Internship from your school prior to the first day of your internship. This letter must be written on school letterhead and signed by your professor/advisor. The letter must contain the criteria necessary in order to fulfill your internship responsibilities.
